Ley Hill School Summer Fayre is set for Sunday 23rd June and is being shaped into a traditional English village event.
The beer tent will be stocked and run by the fabulous Red Squirrel Brewery, shortly to be opening a shop in Market Square, Chesham. Red Squirrel are based in Potten End near Hemel Hempstead, so we’re keeping the beer miles low and supporting local business.
We’re working hard to bring a bit of culture to our beer tent too and trying to source a proper marquee for the first time. We’re also hoping to grace it with some work by local artist Niki Bell. You can see her portfolio on her website: www.nikibell.co.uk or catch her at Hazledene Farm for the Bucks Open Studios season from 8th-23rd June.
Our amazing class co-ordinators are busily putting together a range of hampers which will be raffled on the day. Tickets will be available at the entrance and if you’re not there at the end to claim your prize, one of our Wombles will reserve the pick of the crop and call you to let you know.
We have a range of stalls from local traders listed below (just hover over the icons for more info, or click to visit the websites), plus the usual favorites, including books, toys & cakes.
We’re also looking forward to hosting the following stalls:
Rocks and Crystals, Jewellery, Glitter Tattoos, Facepainting, Ceramics, Sweets, Crafts, Felt Art
If the kids need to let off steam, why not put them on the inflatables – either the 50ft assault course, or Gladiator style Human Destruction Zone – fun for teams of 4 (see the video at the bottom of this article).
Also new for 2013 – come and see the owl display!
For food and refreshments head to the BBQ, with handmade Chesham Sausages from Gerry Martin, to the cafe for a refreshing cup of tea or coffee or to the ice-cream stall to cool down in the summer sunshine!
Huge thanks go to Eros Tool Hire – formerly Chesham Tool Hire and still based in Berkhampstead Road – for sponsoring the BBQ again.
For those of you with a sweet tooth, there’s the confectionery stall and back by popular demand – candy floss!
From Monday 9th June we’re welcoming donations of books, toys, games, bikes, secondhand uniform, bagged sweets and stock for the Bottle Tombola, so if you’re having a clear out please think of supporting the school. You can deliver your items to the front of the school at the beginning of the day (8:45-9am, Monday to Friday) when we can have people on hand to store them safely. If that doesn’t work for you, or your donation is bulky or heavy, please drop us a line at email@example.com and we’ll arrange a convenient time to collect.
Thanks for reading and hopefully we’ll see you there!
The Human Demolition Zone from BounceKrazee – booked for the 23rd!
